Phalaenopsis Orchid

A cool showery day not tempting me to do anything outside.  So a lethargic day inside.  I took my usual just in case shots but when I came to get them on the computer I wasn't happy with any of them.  So grab one of the orchids and out to the studio.

Phalaenopsis are the most commonly grown of the orchids and of course the most commonly offered for sale.  Like all orchids they need good light but not direct sun.  Our north facing bathroom seem to be good for them.  They are epiphytes (grow high on trees but without getting any food from the tree).  So good drainage is essential the pots must not stand in water.  A good soaking by pouring water in the top and allowing it to drain away once a week or ten days is all they need.
