Misty Morning
On the River Fowey. Back in Suffolk the weather was calm first thing, so we grabbed a quick breakfast (essential) and headed out for a quick sail. We knew that the wind would pick up to gusting 36mph and so we were back in the marina for 1230. A good decision. Later in the afternoon a yacht a few down reversed out of its mooring and was immediately blown by the wind, sideways in completely the wrong direction - backwards. This was "not good". This left various boats in a perilous position of being hit. We leapt out and grabbed a couple of fenders to protect our stern. The boat in trouble blew in such a way that its railings got caught over the anchor of a moored boat. My sailing friend devised a cunning plan and they attached a rope to the bow and were able to pull the bow out into the main stream. They went out for about 20 mins to gather their thoughts and then returned where the "welcome party" awaited to make sure that they were able to moor back up without incident. Phew! It make for an exciting interlude - no blood, no damaged boats and no harm done. Now some confidence to be regained.
