Grrr...
Pretty much accomplished everything I set out to do today. Managed to put together that self assembly tool box that has been waiting to get done for ever and the PC is up and running again after it crashed. Must admit, there was a significant amount of swearing to accompany the work.
I hate, hate, hate DIY stuff where the parts are badly made and don't fit together properly. If something is supposed to click together then that is exactly what it should do. None of this giving it a kick nonsense to see if you can get the two bits to marry together. Then there's the accompanying instructions. The pictures are so small that it is impossible to see which way the different parts should be oriented and they also seem to manage to mislabel the different parts. Worst of all however, is that sinking feeling you get as you find out that actually, despite the extortionate price, the whole thing is just a piece of junk!
Ah well, it'll do for now at least. So, that done I went out to find something more interesting than a plastic toolbox to blip. Hadn't intended to take a picture of another hover fly, but there were an awful lot of them in the garden today. Just managed to get this pair in focus while they fought over this thistle. Had never realised it before, but they seem to use their front legs to box with one another until the looser flies off to another part of the flower. Must be some seriously good nectar in there!
Anyway, was in the process of converting the RAW file when the system crashed. Two cold boots later and a scary moment when it went into DOS and started doing all sorts of CHKDSK things spontaneously, I got it up and running again. Problem; the wireless mouse needed new batteries!
So here they are, my irritated boxing hover flies!
