A foodie day
In the morning I picked all the ripe tomatoes from my two plants. And I picked up all the fallen apples, some will need to be chopped and cooked down, some are good enough for the fruit bowl, some went over the back wall for the critters in the undergrowth in the cemetery.
A lovely lunch with my friend C at La Ruca, a cafe set up many decades ago by Chilean refugees. It’s so friendly there, and they serve delicious food. I had black bean enchilada and after a plum cake just cooked:-))
In the afternoon, despite it still being August, I spent the time as I would in winter, listening to football, and cooking various dishes to freeze - so I can have nice cooked meals every day, but don’t need to find the time every day. I did sticky roast sweet potato, roast tomatoes, spicy butter beans, lentil and walnut pasta sauce. I’m not a good cook at all, but if I follow the recipe carefully it usually turns out ok. And meanwhile it was pouring with rain outside, and Bristol City won an exciting match.
After the football I listened to my library book, My Name is Lucy Barton by Elizabeth Strout. What a fabulous writer she is. I may have mentioned already how much I like audiobooks, recently discovered. I can read and cook at the same time…
