Miamisburg and the Great Miami River

We tried a different trail this afternoon for our afternoon cycle ride - the Great Miami trail starting from Miamisburg. The trail we usually ride is the Little Miami trail. Both rivers flow south to the Ohio River in Cincinnati, the Little Miami to the east, and the Great Miami to the west. We don’t go to the Great Miami so often, for one thing it’s a bit further to get to , but also quite a bit of it runs along the top of a levee along the river, meaning you’re more exposed to the sun and wind, but it is nice to have a change now and again, and today was favorable conditions, not too hot or windy. We had done this stretch starting in Miamisburg two or three years ago, but it looked quite different this year, as they have developed the area into a really nice Riverfront park, with an amphitheater, really nice kids playground and splash pad (though that wasn’t working today - maybe weekend only now children are back in school, picnic tables and swing seats overlooking the river. I think the murals are new since then too. There was even electric charging for our Tesla! The lower mural is called Hollywood Legends, and depicts John Wayne, Carrie Fisher, Paul Newman, Judy Garland and Charlie Chaplin. We had a good ride, 12 miles return for me today. We treated ourselves to an ice cream on our return, before returning home.
