Sunflowers

Mr HB had a lovely surprise visit from his elder son this morning who lives an hour and a half away from our campsite. We had coffee together and after a good catchup I left father and son together and took myself off for a walk round a small part of the the vast arable farm we're on. Round the edges of the crop fields are large swathes of Sunflowers and wildflowers. Just right for FlowerFriday, thanks as ever to BikerBear ~Anni~ for hosting.

On my walk I saw masses of berries: black, Hawthorn and Elder. The blackberries were delicious. Rosehips, Hazelnuts and Sloes (picked loads to make sloe gin when we get home). Three little birds, probably enjoying the sunflower hearts, shot out in front of me and my trusty Merlin app identified them as Linnets, too quick though to take a closer look. A few white Butterflies around and more bird song ID:
Willow warbler
White wagtail
House Martin
Swallow
Chiffchaff
Robin
Common WoodPigeons.

We've had sunshine and showers today, thunder, rainbows and a pretty pink sunset.

It's our last night here in Essex and we've had a really lovely week with family. Hope to be down again in October to meet the 2 GtGranchildren. One of which has now gone over his/her due date.
Extra: rainbow
