The Cardigirls

Today's the day ......................... to put on a show

It was my present to Will on his birthday (which was actually on 8th August) but it didn't happen until this evening - when we went to a performance of 'The Cardigirls'  by the Fullarton Theatre Company in Castle Douglas. 

It is a comedy musical play about a year in the life of the workers in a small Knitwear Factory in South West Scotland.  The story begins in January 1971 as they return to work after the Christmas and New Year holiday and have to confront a number of problems that await them.  It was loosely based on one such factory that did exist in Castle Douglas around that time.  It was very well done, with lots of references to local places and events that delighted the audience.  The cast were excellent  - and the performance was greatly enjoyed by all. 

In addition, Will won one of the raffle prizes in the draw during the interval.  An extra birthday present perhaps ........................?!
