Journies at home

serendipity

Mu got a job at the Relais Mira Peis the day after she arrived here at the beginning of June because we happened to be in Carrefour and we happened to run into Ben Schweigler in the vegetable aisle and that was her sorted.

She moved into a wing of the hotel and spent her mornings cleaning with Carole and her evenings greeting guests.

The in between bits were when we slipped in to have a quick swim at the height of the heatwaves followed by a gin and tonic or a takeaway pizza on the back terrace

This afternoon the clouds gathered and the wind blew into a scurry.  We shlepped Mu's giant suitcase down the stone staircase and left it by the  the big double gates.  We piled the seat cushions away in the dry and rolled the cover back over the pool.

We sipped our last gin of the summer in silence apart from the odd virginia creeper leaf falling from the wall onto the pool cover.  We tried to ignore the fact that we were soon to drive to Toulouse and that would be the summer over.
