RHS Wisley
Fred and I cycled part of the Ripley Road, which was a popular cycling destination in Victorian times. We cycled down the canal path in a tunnel of green trees with many narrowboats chugging by. One lady puttered by us singing as she sailed to her mooring.
Once off the towpath, we popped into Wisley Church at the behest of the friendliest congregation I've ever met. We'd just missed a round of coffee, but we were welcome to look around the 12th-century church, which still has many original features.
Our next unscheduled stop was RHS Wisley. We saw the absolutely massive car park and wondered what was drawing everyone in Surrey to this particular location. Realising it was a garden, we thought we'd have a peek. The greenhouses were great, as were the wildflower meadows. We stopped for some tea and cake, which was eyed by opportunistic mallards.
In the evening, we met Jason and Jenny for Jason's birthday eve dinner at Ping Pong in Marylebone. It was a feast! Our waiter was the most informative and helpful server I've ever met. Not ready to leave J+J after dinner, we found a pub and settled down for a couple of drinks. It was superb, as always, to see them both.
