Does not make me happy

My favourite tree got a haircut today. Two other trees that made my balcony view a very green view were felled.
They were working on them all day. I don't know what to think about it.
Always thought this isn't allowed this time of the year.

At first I thought last night the linden tree was struck by lighting and they needed to cut off branches. We had a heavy thunderstorm at 2.30; it woke me up; really loud thunder and lightning.
But when they felled the other two trees, I was kind of speechless. Perhaps some kind of danger for the Kindergarten playground/backyard?

The linden tree will grow again , but the other two are gone for good.
