The World Through My Eyes

Ancient brewery

and Iron Age finds discovered...
As expected, traces of a nineteenth-century brewery have been found on the square. But the history of this place now appears to go back much further.
The building is being demolished to make way for a new apartment complex. Currently, legally required archaeological research is being conducted. During the investigation, several walls from the brewery and a house were discovered. The brewery dates back to the nineteenth century. Some of these walls were found, and a well was excavated. But other traces go back much further in history, to the late Middle Ages and even further. Posts and post holes were found beneath the walls. "These date back to the Iron Age, when wood was used primarily instead of stone," says project leader. A team of archaeologists has been conducting the investigation since last Monday.
Maybe I'll go back again sunday.
