„Caution Wet Floor“

The sign made me smile. This is the front of a supermarket where I went shopping for my mother today. Last night, a massive thunderstorm dropped 40 mm of rain on us, and of course the bone dry soil couldn‘t soak up all that water in a short time. Lots of soil from a field uphill from the supermarket ended up on the car park in front of the building. Even the inside was pretty muddy.

Frau G, my mother‘s German carer, is in hospital with pneumonia. I hope she will make a full recovery, but until then, I need to drive to my mother’s every day to give D a break, and to make sure she and my mother have everything they need.
