Plane "not" Spotting
I was hoping the RAF or USAF might put in an appearance for me over Ullswater. An early morning start to beat the holiday crowds and parking / traffic. Even so at 7am I still found a driver who appeared never to have encountered a hairpin bend before.
A hike up onto the fell with a beck crossing followed by a bit of scrambling up through wet bracken I reached this point, an outcrop looking up towards the bend in the lake. Low flyers come down the lake this way. There are no published schedules for military aircraft in the Low Fly Zone and so it's down to luck if you catch any.. Today my luck was not in, so I fell back to a bit of landscape photography.
After about 4 hours of hopping about up there with two coats on I called it a day, the weather radar was indicating a soaking if I hung about and so back through the bracken and over the beck down to the car.
More hairpin fun on the return, another driver - 6mph brakes on for half mile all the way down out of Martindale. I suspect they were cooking at the bottom.
