Dead Hedge
I had a two hour ‘meeting’ added to my calendar for today, which was actually a Walk the Visitor Route meeting to see it from the visitors point of view. To be honest I was dreading it. Everyone else at least 30 years or more younger than me and my asthma has been pretty grim lately. I made sure I used my inhaler before I left, and took some paracetamol in preparation for what might happen to my knee, and got a lift down to the meeting point on the minibus.
Clearly, I survived it, and it was indeed enlightening and interesting. Led in the main by my manager, her with the 20,000 ideas constantly swirling in her head, the day visitor manager did mutter an aside to me that he didn’t know how I coped with her! The thing is, I really like her! She has the most bizarre ideas and nine times out ten they are not going to come to fruition - but that 1 out 10 will be an amazing one. She has a superb sense of humour and despite constantly feeling like I need to bring her down to earth because there is never going to be enough money to complete her wish list, maybe her force of nature personality will win the accountant round!
The photo is one of the quick fixes we spotted. Someone asked the grounds manager why the hedge had died, and we learnt that it had been created and was a haven for all sorts of wild life. It will have signage to explain that very soon!
