Awesome - literally

This is a tiny tiny sample of the vast Canadian Shield, the continental crust that lies under the majority of North America. 

The exposed granite bedrock that I stood on here is one of its key features. 

'Awesome' is a very over-used word in my opinion but I was genuinely struck with awe trying to fathom the timescale of what was under my feet.
