Toiling up the hill
Very warm sunny Sunday. I cracked on and made Mum’s birthday cake for tomorrow, the fabulous pistachio cake from Skye McAlpine, and then prepped a bit more. We were out to lunch at the Bartletts’ our former landlords.
After a delicious lunch at the CourtHouse, including my favourite, Summer pudding we left a little early. I had to pick up Beet and the family from Petersfield station and brought them back. We played in the garden. Ivy went on the swing and Leo enjoyed pushing the old truck up the hill.
After tea they recorded get well soon messages for Rory after his broken scapula (see yesterday). Relieved to get an update that they aren’t sending him home but getting a new local trainee to do the heavy lifting.
The children had a lovely evening and bath time and Ivy took herself to sleep early and I read Leo a censored version of Little Grey Rabbit. Well, more abridged as it was quite over written for his age and extraordinarily fey. But he seemed to enjoy it.
V cooked a delicious chicken and tomato rice dish from Feast and we had a jolly dinner.
