Soirée tapas

Make of this what you will! A very late backblip of our Saturday evening. I took four photos and all of them were unusable, so I decided to use a few filters and a square crop to fiddle about with one of them. This is the result, which pretty much describes my state of mind and body on Sunday morning :)

We had sixteen people, or maybe seventeen. Possibly even a couple more, as we had our party in the street and the occasional passer-by stopped for a drink. I spent much of the first half of the evening running up and down stairs, fetching and carrying. Tapas look simple, but they are a lot of work! The menu:
pan con tomate
filo tarts with goat's cheese
gazpacho
escalivade
artichoke and rosemary focaccia
pinchitos moruños (mini spiced pork kebabs)
grilled pork ribs
hot and sour prawns
dates wrapped in bacon and grilled
tortilla de patatas
blue cheese and cranberry tart
prune and armagnac tart
sorbete de limon (a frothy mixture of lemon sorbet and cava)
cheese and membrillo

Then there were the items we forgot to serve (only jamón and cheese straws). The day had been windy and we were a bit worried it would be too cold, but the wind dropped at about five o'clock, and while it wasn't exactly balmy, it was warm enough as long as you had a jacket. Warm and convivial enough that I couldn't believe my eyes when I looked at my watch after people had left and found that it was 2:45 a.m. ... Sunday was a bed in the morning, sofa in the afternoon kind of day.
