Yew (Taxus baccata )
Another fine sunny day. I could get used to this. So having a suspicion that there is a pigeon nesting in the hedge I have to stop cutting until I discover whether I am correct or not. So I decided to do some work down on Clickychicks "woodland sitootary".
Beside the sitootary is a Yew and while having a sit hoping the robin would return and pose nicely I noticed berries. There was an interesting shot, well I thought it interesting, of a ripe berry and an unripe one in the same shot. All parts of a yew are toxic apart from one! That one is the soft red flesh on the berry. This exception means birds can eat the berry but the seed passes through untouched and so the seeds are spread. Incidentally this does not work for humans so don't try it.
