Refuge
For most of the day we have had sunshine and blue sky with or without cloud but, for a short while after lunch, we had a cloudburst.
As the rain began with heavy drops, we saw a red admiral butterfly flying this way and that, seemingly looking for shelter as one would oneself if caught in a sudden shower. It found refuge by clinging onto the outside frame of a hopper window in the sunroom, peering in while the rain teemed down behind, adjusting its wings until it found a comfortable position.
Although I wasted no time in grabbing the camera and catching a few shots, it remained in place for a few hours after the shower had blown over and the sun returned. Eventually I noticed that it had left; a quick check outside confirmed that there was no entanglement in spider web nor other hazard so I assume that it escaped intact.
Thanks to the rain I have a blip which I shall add to the Tiny Tuesday challenge, recognising that, to meet the challenge of 'edible', I must accept that birds do eat butterflies, including red admirals. Thanks to ApolloFly and Nicoiseannie for hosting.
