Cake
I've blipped the outside of this #leithwalkshop before. It's Kiki's, a Hungarian family run café in the Red Sandstone. We went there for what amounted, I guess, to a wee celebration of Mr A's successful cataract operation. It seems that as with my knees, where you don't believe people who tell you that the pain will go (internal knee pain went immediately, operation-related pain obviously took a while to go) when you have the operation, Mr A didn't believe people who told him that the cataract operation would be transformative. He now has bright colours through one eye, so he'll be mithering to get the other one done as soon as possible.
He still had some discomfort this morning, mostly related to the eye being a bit gummy with sleep, plus light sensitivity. But once he'd mastered the task of putting in the eye drops and then been out to the surgery to drop off a form and the opticians to make an appointment, he was fully content with how things have turned out.
We walked together over to Leith Walk and he easily acquiesced in my suggestion we try this relatively new café. We both pronounced our homemade cakes excellent. Mine was pistachio and raspberry.
I'd taken the "day off" in order to make sure that Mr A had whatever he needed, but actually he has been just fine and he made our dinner just now. I spent a fair bit of the day reading bits of a PhD thesis and keeping an eye on various things, so I don't end up with a pile of email to deal with tomorrow.
