Who
Who remembers plastic bows and arrow with suckers on the end, or wooden bows with coloured string in the middle? Things have moved on and dread to think how much these ones cost plus telescopes to see if they have hit the target. Targets were large black circles on the grass about 100 yards away.
This was an unexpected sight as I was on my way to Brougham Castle, so I found the sports field outside Penrith, was challenged by a judge fearing I would be shot and told me to stand near the trees and behind the archers, which I was going to do. He returned saying 'I see you have taken photos-you know there are minors! I couldn't see any children, but just gently mentioned it was a public place and I was willing to see an official, so I did. He to was a photographer (with a longer lens than mine) but he was the organiser. We spent 5 minutes talking about photography and the best place to stand. Yes I was making my way to behind. Which was when I learned about the Archers Paradox: when the arrow leaves the bow it looks straight, but actually bends. (Google)
One from yesterday as more needed to be done at home!!
By the way who remembers the black and white TV 'The Adventures of Robin Hood' starring Richard Green? These programmes can still be seen if you have SKY TV-'Talking Pictures.'
