Earlier Again

Hyacinthoides lingulata, a tiny relative of the Spanish Bluebell.   It's a classic Autumn flowering bulb in that it responds to the first hint of moisture and the drop in temperature after a dry summer.   This year it's the first time I have blipped it in August, a month earlier than it's first appearance back in 2012.

A day off!   No better way to start it than with a walk with C and the Megs.   Our last summer visit to the favourite walk.   They're off home to England tomorrow and it looks like they are taking the summer weather away with them!   Too hot in the sunshine on the high bench, we lingered on the shady bench lower down before crossing the summer meadow one more time.  No rare butterflies today, yesterday was a moment of serendipity.

After doing a couple of chores on the way home, I barely had time to have a bite of lunch and load the car before it was time to set up my pottery stall at Bryncrug Summer Fair.   It was a very sociable afternoon chatting to strangers, friends and acquaintances and I passed on a fair bit more pottery too.   The two sales have cleared space at home .... so I have license to make lots more :-)   Ruth and Chris cycled out to Bryncrug taking the scenic route and enjoyed an ice cream when they arrived.  I was gifted some delicious cake by a lovely pottery friend.

Jamie arrived back from his latest trip, Surrey - Norwich - Southampton - Poole at the end of the afternoon and joined Ruth and I for tea and a catch up.  He and Ruth will hopefully get out together while I am working (again) tomorrow.
