Sally Mair - Loving life

The Village

I was too tired to write anything last night so these words are written the next morning.
Much of my day was a nice, me focused, one, the blip is of the war memorial and bench in D'mains, The Village, as we call it. The planters are looking lovely, someone must be doing a good job of watering them in this heat, better than I am at watering mine! I was waiting there to go in to have my nails done so they look nice at the Institution next week. I don't think I've much time between now and then to get them done from now on. They now look fresh and shiny. I used to have my nails done all the time when I was working, once I was office rather than classroom based at any rate. Now gardening is their worst enemy so I'll need to be careful.
After lunch I had a Clarins massage appointment which was lovely, relaxing to the extent that I think I nodded off a couple of times! I'm going to ponder on whether I'm going to continue then though, they've just put their prices up, by a lot, so I shall consider.
I think the relaxing massage contributed to my tiredness. We popped round to church so I could check the new microphone cable I'd bought was ok and working - it was, and I didn't chip my nails in the process of attaching it I had also bought some oak woodgrain duct tape - bet you didn't know that was a thing! I'd tied in the cable for the new lectern light I bought last week with string and it looked awful. After more pondering I Googled oak effect duct tape, and there it was. I bought the light oak version and I think I need the dark, but other than that it looks much smarter. The new version will arrive today and I'll fix it. (Other wood effect finishes are also available!)
I also noticed, while there, that the red tape our curate had used on the (red) notice board had peeled off or faded so our previous rector's name was showing through, definitely a faux pas at the institution of our new one. Red electrical tape was also ordered and so that is another job to do. The noticeboard will be properly corrected but not till we have the correct information. I'll need to be careful of my nails doing that, lol.
Talking of new rectors, the family moved in today. Colin and I popped in, very briefly to say hallo and made sure everything was ok. We timed it right as they'd just stopped for a cuppa. I don't think we were introducing. Everything is there and the house is full of boxes. It will be lovely to have it in use again. Lovely to sit and chat in the garden for 15 minutes or so. I forget that I'm the person who has been in constant touch so they haven't actually met anyone else since the interview in May! I feel they are old friends
Back home I had a quick relax before dinner.
Ali ran over here in the evening, she's training for a half marathon next month, supporting a friend who is a new runner, but it's also the first longer run she's done since before Bonnie was born 18 months ago. She did 9 miles coming here and hardly looked like she'd run across the road when she arrived. Both our girls are runners, I'm in awe of them.
..... and so to bed, with not even the energy to stay awake to watch the Monday quizzes, so no spoilers please.
