Trail
It is very unusual to see con-trails in the sky here. This one is directly above the trees which surround Chez M&B.
Few planes fly over us: just four or five a day on their way to Queenstown, Dunedin and this one is probably the four times weekly jet to Invercargill. Those going to the first two destinations fly lower. (The northwards flights go further to the east, over the ocean.)
We do very occasionally get planes very high up going east-west which I always assume are military aircraft on secret business. Even more occasionally a high flight to Antarctica goes over.
We were on our way home from our walk when I took the photo: along the main road which runs into the village metropolis which is Ngapara.
Bean was dawdling in the sun's heat, having chased a hare across a paddock a few minutes earlier. She had a big drink in the creek when we reached it, and then plodded up the road to flop on the deck at home. Yesterday's extra will give you an idea of her relaxed pose.
The Soapmaker came round this afternoon, with his dogs Woody and Roy, to give me a hand with the wood which needed shifting before the compost arrives.
A cup of tea was required after that, so we all joined Bean on the deck and put the world to rights for an hour or so, while watching dogs doing what dogs do.
The sale of R's property to FFL went unconditional today. So it is almost happening. Just three more weeks I think, then FFL will be the new owner. It makes me so happy.
