Another blast of 80s nostalgia also a huge event for my pal Rachel. She of the brain-tumour-perforated-bowel-nearlydiedin2023 - fame.
She and her rollator managed the trip by train ( accompanied by her 87 year old dad) and I picked her up at Newtongrange. A huge feat for someone who was stuck in her bedroom for six months until she got a stairlift.
To celebrate we went first to Dicksons in Kelso for tapas, over-ate, then onward to Floora Castle to see Del Amitri, her second favourite band after the Police.
What a gig. Justin Currie, despite having Parkinsons, belted out the tunes such a strong voice and lyrics and tub thumping songs I’d forgotten. Great night spent with a lot of people of a certain age. I’m sure we were in the youngest category. Makes a change
