Sally Mair - Loving life

Paella Party

I went to the Rectory first thing this morning to read the meters and drop off some gifts for our new Rector and family. They move in tomorrow - hooray.
After that I went straight to Church where we said goodbye to Andrew our interim pastor. He has looked after us so well during our vacancy year. I presented him with a gift at the end of the service, then we had a celebratory BBQ, in the church garden there was cake too!... Yes thank you, I did try some, it was delicious!!
I ran him home after that then popped into Stockbridge Market for a couple of things on the way back. There's is always a queue at the Paella stall, you can see why .
On my way back to the car I went into the Gelato shop and treated myself to the most delightfully sharp blackcurrant cone. I felt I had to buy it as there was no queue at the shop and I didn't want the staff to feel unappreciated, lol. I didn't rush it, it was delicious.
This afternoon I went to the Cathedral where there was a special choral evensong service to say goodbye to our Bishop, retiring after 14 years. It's a real time of change just now! It was a lovely service with a packed cathedral, finishing by him returning his Bishop's Crozier which he laid upon the Cathedral altar. He then walked down the aisle with his wife, followed by his daughters and grandchildren. A lovely farewell. Followed of course by a reception in the Wally (Walpole Hall).
I came home and dropped for an hour or so before I went out to be with Eilidh. I can't really call it baby sitting any longer now she's in senior school. She's good company. Dad was working and Katy and Isobel were in Dundee for a dance contest, home by 9. 30 though so I'm blipping then going to bed.
