Taking Over the Dock
It was another boating day for us, this time with our son and two of our grand kids. On a tour of the lake we spotted this scene - a striking yellow boat with a canopy to match, tied to a private dock. For some reason the gulls had flocked to this particular dock, though there were many other places nearby for them to land, including other docks and boats with canopies.
Oops, it looks as though some white on the canopy has been added to the original design! I'm thinking that the owner may not be too pleased to find these visitors, and what they leave behind. Maybe this was not the first time and that is why the scarecrow owl was erected? See photo entitled ""Sea Gulls"
This puts me in mind of a story told about one of our well-loved Prime Ministers - John Diefenbaker. He asked that a statue not be made of him because typically pigeons would land on the heads of statues and well...you know the rest. The first time I went to see our Parliament Buildings in Ottawa, I spotted a statue of the former PM John Diefenbaker, and just as he had predicted, his statue had the tell-tale signs of pigeons. I did not take a photo of his statue, but here's one of our first Prime Minister - The Pigeon Has Landed
