Coventry Charterhouse
Well, this was a revelation. Just past the famous Ferodo bridge on the road into Coventry city centre, practically on the infamous ring road, is this. The last thing you'd expect, amongst the steel and glass and concrete of the urban modernist nightmare, is a 14th century monastic house. But here it is, and it's now a National Trust property, and it is a lovely place. The renovation is still continuing, but what is there now is worth a look. Several of the rooms have original wall paintings, most of which are religious.
Nice gardens behind the house. too.
