Pedal to Lyme Park

Found myself at a loose end at midday and decided to take a packed lunch for a bike ride. Setting off along the Peak Forest Canal to Marple, I had to divert around the aqueduct due to a tragic incident that the police were still dealing with :-(

Rejoining at the locks, the right turn onto the Macclesfield Canal was taken to Baileys Trading Post, exiting the cut there and heading uphill into Lyme Park. There was technically no cycle access along Lyme Rd but the weighty beast was just about handled through a large kissing gate to find a nice vantage point on which to collapse onto a picnic blanket for late lunch. It was very peaceful, so much so that a few percent of an ebook was read afterwards until it was time to head back.

To save some time, the Middlewood Way cycle path was taken back to Marple and a shorter diversion taken down past Chadkirk Chapel, hoiking the ebike up some steep steps back to the Peak Forest Canal.

Later I popped over to my parents house to check on Dad who was feeling much better and having a wee natter with Bestie into the bargain.
