Chasewater Heritage Railway
We had a relatively relaxing day, L was feeling under the weather so we took ourselves up to Chasewater Reservoir, where the heritage railway was starting a week of celebrations for their 60th anniversary. There seemed to be problems with the points outside the one station and when we walked around to the other end of the line (it's only just over a mile away), the train was held because of the problem.
We had a bacon butty while we people watched then the guard announced things were fixed and the train was able to get underway. We have a link to this train as it was used at the Hollybank Colliery at Essington to haul coal wagons. Subsequently the colliery land was opencast before they built a housing estate on the land. We bought one of the properties there in 1990.
Later, at home, we were delighted to see a large group of tits, including great, blue, coal and long-tailed varieties using the feeders. We've also set up a small bowl with water in it and they were all taking turns drinking and bathing (see extra)
