Falstone Show

Falstone Show is one of the nicest country shows in Northumberland. I like the Roman Wall Show for the same reason: both are small and attended by local farming families. A few visitors like me attend too.

I was there in time to see the sheep arriving and being penned. Then I watched a few sheep dogs being put through their paces in the sheep dog trials. This latter event is hard to photograph because the dog may be keeping a respectful distance from the sheep. See extra where I have captured man, dog and sheep.

Then there was the sheep judging and the dog show. This latter included the dog with the waggiest tail and the dog the judge would like to take home! Otherwise, there were working dogs.

I enjoyed seeing the entries in the industrial tent. No huge numbers, but all sorts of crafts, baked goods, vegetables and flowers.

The children's races were great. I could not help smiling all the time as they ran, jumped and skipped their way in their different age groups. The "egg" and spoon race was tricky because they were each given a golf ball to balance on a flattish spoon. The tiniest children held a spoon in one hand and the ball in the other and enjoyed the race!

I came home before the prizes were presented and before the tug of war, but I was very tired. Arth and Aggie hated the day so I just ignored them and took more pain killers when I came home!
