Arriving into Stromness

A beautiful sunny day.  Chilly and breezy near exposed coasts, warm and calm in towns and villages.  Stunning skies tonight. 

Up super early, final bits packed, then a long drive north to Scrabster.  Caught the first morning ferry over to Orkney.  Driven allover the isle, various stops with walks, lunch at Merkister Hotel.  An afternoon and evening walking around Kirkwall, tea in the Dil Se Indian restaurant, now a long wait for the ferry home to Shetland (2345 sailing).

A morning puttering around the town, bits of sightseeing and a visit to Flett's butchers to stock up on some Orkney beef.  The early sail seemed a great idea, spend the day touring about, but unfortunately it's tiring when you don't have anywhere to relax properly.  A long evening ahead waiting on the ferry, thank goodness it's been a lovely day.  We have met various folk to chat with along the way.  An early morning view arriving into Stromness, Orkney.
