The ‘road’

Well, this turned out to be a much more interesting ride than I’d expected—more so as the ride went on which was perfect.

Here was about the point it became really lovely but also a bit of a wonder. Is this really a road? And will it turn into the road to nowhere? It was about half the size, at most, of a single track lane but my plan had said 100% tarmac and I did a quick check of google to see what it said. It reckoned you could get a car through too, which was a bit of a joke but helped convince me I’d be OK.

And OK, I was! The ‘road’ did indeed weave its way through cow pastures, past old farm buildings and eventually down and out to a slightly more mainstream road. This wiggled its way to Roman Bewcastle where a signpost led me either to Rome or back to camp.

Back to camp it was. Tried out the shower (pretty good and very hot), eaten lots and played a few games.
