Hector's House

After a day in Libraries and a reviving helping of beans on toast, this is me heading down to Metronome for an entertaining evening with Luke Haines’ latest musical project. Ostensibly, a ‘psychedelic’ collaboration with former R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck and friends, it’s actually a little like stumbling upon a somewhat louche reformed garage band in the back room of a Working Men’s Club somewhere. Or a Pink Fairies tribute band who started writing their own material. Only good. On balance, I was pleased that I hadn’t listened to any of their records upfront - in fact, I might just leave things as they are, with an increasingly vague reminiscence of that strange band with the Black Sabbath riffs and the song about the rock ‘n’ roll ambulance…!
