The National Youth Bowling Squads
An international tenpin bowling tournament is being held in Stroud, amazingly enough! I saw the England, Ireland and Scotland youth squads waiting for their coach in the early evening sunshine, and spoke to the adults from the Irish squad. Later, up on the roof of the Five Valleys shopping centre, where the bowling alley is located, I spoke to the organisers, and asked them why Wales wasn’t represented. They said it didn’t have a squad. I guess Northern Ireland must be the same. All of this is happening in Stroud! Today was practice, the tournament is tomorrow. And I had heard rumours that the bowling centre was closing down!
It’s Steve’s birthday today. He is now officially Too Old to be called for jury service, though of course he could still run for the office of president in many countries. Our efforts to go out for breakfast (his choice) were somewhat stymied by a combination of circumstances, and we ended up eating delicious French pastries in the Five Valleys shopping centre, which is dark grey inside, opposite Home Bargains! Then I rushed off to work, late, and he took the rest of his almond croissant home.
We had a relaxing evening, though I’d had one of those very upsetting cases come in late afternoon that made me need to listen to Meatloaf, and sing aloud, when I got home. Steve was out taking photos, and I always close the doors so no one else can hear me! It’s along the lines of ‘For crying out loud, ( why do people DO things like that?)’ singing therapy. Usually works, but sometimes I need marching tunes too. My friend V has got her first UK passport, so I sent her a drumroll to congratulate her. I could spend all evening on Spotify, there are so many avenues to explore
