Living my dream

8 cubic metres of compost will be arriving sometime in the next week. Before the truck arrives I need to have everything prepared.

Obviously I can't have it dumped in the middle of the drive, and nor can it be dropped onto the drive itself.

Today I have started to clear an area next to the cool store which is where the last huge compost delivery was left, five years ago. Much has happened in that time, including quite a few trees and branches coming down around the property. All of them have ended up in this precise spot. So I have done some careful lifting and restacking.

There are some very heavy timber raised bed-edges which I shall ask the Soapmaker to help shift on Monday (he's away for the weekend). Then I will be able to lay this enormous tarp out, pin it down at the corners and wait for the delivery.

The tarp was last used a couple of years ago and I put it away with a few rips in it. Today I spread it out, washed it and taped up the worst of the tears. With any luck it will hold together for another year or two.

This was all done in between making Camemberts, and reading a book on the sunny deck.

Life's tough...

They are feijoa trees along the fence.

And no, the solar panel on the garage roof isn't hooked up to anything and is waiting to be picked up by friends who have bought it.
