Togetherness
I spotted this pair of crows at the top of an alder by Seventy Acres Lake this morning. The bird on the left looked like it was kissing the neck of the other. I've read that this is called allopreening. Crows mate for life and this behaviour helps to cement their bond. They couldn't be sitting closer together on that branch. My daughter loves crows and so do I. She'll be touched. I was.
(The birds are a bit scruffy-looking as they are finishing their moult.)
