Pink water lily, Inverewe Garden
I hardly slept at all last night. I finally dropped off for just a couple of hours of slumber at 4:00am - aaargh! We therefore took things easy today.
In the morning we visited Inverewe Garden. This visit will remembered as the one during which we tried to help a German find his lost camera (thankfully someone handed it into the shop) and spoke to some Finnish tourists (although Mr hazelh was too shy to practise his Finnish on them). We returned to the café to share a cheese scone and a honeycomb tiffin with tea and coffee, while making plans for the rest of the day.
Given that we have lounged on a different beach every day of this holiday so far, we decided to add to the list this afternoon with a trip to Mungasdale. We had the beach to ourselves for a while for picnicking and reading, then a man and woman with their three dogs (one of them minus a leg) joined us. Neither of us swam today, but we enjoyed watching one of the couple in the water with all the dogs.
Our beach tally for the first week of our holiday is thus:
1. Slaggan
2. Mellon Udrigle
3. Firemore
4. Red Point
5. Gruinard
6. Mungasdale
This evening we need to pack for an early getaway to Ullapool and the morning ferry to the Isle of Lewis - and even more beaches.
I have blipped a pink water lily in the Garden Pond at Inverewe.
Exercise today: walking (12.5k steps).
