Three gasholders in a row
Although not functioning ones. Gasholders used to be a common sight in England, but no longer. This shot was taken from Gasholder Park located within the restored frame of No. 8 Gasholder, now listed Grade II. Behind it are two former tanks that have been redeveloped into apartment blocks (something of a trend).
These tanks, built in the 1850s, were part of Pancras Gasworks, the largest gasworks in London. They are 25 metres high and #8 has a 35 metre diameter. The tanks were decommissioned in 2000.
