Harvest day 2
The story continues. I tried circulating the caraway in the dryer before lunch time, as basically there was enough of it, but it wasn't distributed evenly enough. It helped, and I turned the dryer on. The neighbour came back with his combine before noon and this time it went better.
However, as the dryer did its work, the caraway shrunk a little, and I had to stop it. There were two options, to add a little from the new load or to try to fit it all in the dryer at once. I chose the latter and regretted it many times during the evening. There was too much of it, and even though it looked like it shrunk, adding more didn't work out and I had to take some away soon. It was almost 10 pm before it was dry, and even after that, during one hour of cooling, I had to take some away to fit in some that I had taken out earlier. Finally finished at 11 pm, both drying and me.
The combine that we rent for cereals was available, so Jussi fetched it while I was struggling with the dryer, and started harvesting oats (in the extra). There were little showers in the evening, but we got one and a half loads in.
