The Guard

After I put our cycles and gear away last night, friends phoned wanting to know if we were up for cycling in the morning! As the proposed start was only 25 mins from home for us, and 90 for them, how could we refuse?! 

The ride started in Llanfoist (Abergavenny, South Wales, UK) and followed the old railway line through Clydach Gorge to Blaenavon, where we stopped at The Whistle Inn for a cuppa. I heard a train pull up outside the pub and dashed out onto the platform, crossing the boundary!  The Guard was friendly and up for me taking his photo' so this lovely surprise just had to be my blip. 

It was such a pleasant route we cycled back the same was doing a total of 22.5 miles. It was a a bit showery and cold in places but this evening the sun has come out.
