Beer, Trains and Tapas

High: 32.8 °C

Our flight at 7:50 am got us to Madrid just before lunch. E’s suitcase failed to appear on the carousel, but with the help of AirTags, we knew it was still in the airport, and it eventually turned up with the next flight’s luggage. As we had plenty of time before our connection, we enjoyed a refreshing

Spanish beer at the station before boarding the fast and smooth train to Valladolid – Campo Grande. Our hotel was just a short walk from the station and, later, we explored the city. Standing in the Plaza Mayor, Valladolid’s grand square, the neoclassical façade of the Casa Consistorial (City Hall) really stood out in the sunshine. In the evening, we ate tapas at Jero Catedral, where inventive canapés – including prawns and cheeses – were beautifully presented and set the tone for the rest of the trip.
