Quilts of Gee’s Bend
I completed this puzzle today as I waited for all the washing to finish. Ella and I had a go at it over the weekend, trying to complete one quilt square at a time. We had a good discussion about the patterns and how the pieces of fabric were sewn together.
I love this for its own sake, but it will forever be linked to memories of NannaK as she was making it a few years ago and I knew I had to get a copy. She was very keen on these quilts made in the early 20th century, and still made today, by women of a black community in Alabama.
