Bits and Bobs!

Geranium at the RUH

Today has been one step forward, ten steps back.

Walked to local nursing home and got a lift to the hospital in Bath with manager who then did an assessment with Dad with the aim of moving him Thursday. Unfortunately just as we arrived he had "an episode". Registrar said it was important to get him out of hospital and into respite asap as Norovirus was going round and that would be the end of him. Sat with Dad for six hours, popping out into the courtyard garden for a break. By the afternoon he had perked up and he enjoyed me reading to him.

Going home on the bus started to feel upbeat and that plans were falling into place. But back home the nursing home phoned to say that they couldn't really cope with Dad's needs but were prepared to accept him if I accepted the one room that I had already rejected, overlooking the tip! Even if I accept that room, it's now not available until Monday, meaning an even longer stay in hospital, putting him at increasing risk. I lost count of the number of times I tried to get through to the hospital to get advice from the doctor, before giving up. Will start making calls at 9am tomorrow. Feeling utterly drained, stressed and despondent, another sleepless night ahead...

One bus, overcast and 23 degrees. Thank you for your kind stars and hearts for yesterday's fairy.
