The Final Few
These are the last of our mirabelle plums before they went into my breakfast muesli. The tree has been amazing this summer. I must have been harvesting at least 20 kilograms of fruit over the last four weeks, of which I ate as much as I could, gave several kilos away, made jam, chutney and pickle; while we were in London, our housesitter made crumble and baked a cake, and now I feel like I‘ve had enough mirabelles for a year.
Today was sunny, dry and warm with 30°C. If the forecast is right, the coming weeks might be a little cooler, but we won’t get any rain at all.
