Former Glory

They say that it can be folly returning to the scene of a former glory. 

Particularly when that former glory had only occurred just the day before…

However, I had taken a bonus day off work today for the express purpose of taking my wider family out on the lake and to try paddle boarding. So, we returned to a largely empty Coniston and stopped within 50 yards of where the wee ones and I had enjoyed such a lovely day yesterday.

There was a bit more cloud cover today, which was’t unwelcome as we once again got into the lake and paddled, played, swam and ate - all against the backdrop of the *Old Man.

There was a little trepidation from the niece and nephew at first, but they soon got into the swing of it and were happy to head out and across the entirety of the lake at one point.

My sister and I even got a little time to catch up mid-lake as m’parents looked after m’niece on the shore.

Eventually we returned home, and I decided to go for an evening stroll in the warm sunshine and snapped the extra.

Another lovely day, which was a welcome distraction from the first day of being away from the wee ones for a week.




*There are other places to paddle board in the lakes, I just don’t know of one better than Coniston.
