Unusual sight ...

This carder bee was sitting motionless on a rose leaf for some time, unlike the other insects in the garden which wouldn’t stop still for a second for me, so I attempted to get a shot of it with the macro lens. 

I was amused to see, as I steadied myself to take the shot, that it then started to try and scratch itself, much like a cat uses its back leg to scratch behind its ear! This explains the unusual position of its back left leg …
