Wooly Wabbit
My project is to do an ounce each of different fibers - spin them, ply them and set them and make my notations on each sample. Last night I watched part of a 2 DVD set called How I Spin. I picked up some wonderful tidbits and also how she makes sample cards first of a fiber - spun in different thicknesses, plied back on itself and wraps per inch. I stopped my project to make a small plied sample (the single will ply back on itself).
This is merino wool mixed with angora (rabbit) - or as I have so nicknamed - wooly wabbit. I really was unsure of the amount of spin I was putting in so stopping and doing a small sample piece really helped me. I may set it later just to see how it looks before I move on. As a beginner I am finding talking with many spinners gives me a barrel full of ideas and tips to play with and learn from.
Maybe uninteresting to many - but for me looking back a year from now to see where I was in this spinning world will be fun. I am progressing very quickly!
