A Taste of Honey
All beekeepers aspire to have a room called "a honey house" This is where we could retire in solitude and extract honey from the combs. You could of course do this in the kitchen. Everything tends to end up sticky and so there was always a certain amount of flack and it was best to have a "honey house" just outside shouting distance.
So this is mine. It is designed to be hygenic and every piece of equipment can be washed down. In the foreground is a frame of honey comb recently taken off the bees. You can see that the comb is covered with white cappings. These are removed by the use of a sharp knife and then placed in the stainless steel centrifuge behind in order to have the honey spun out of the combs.
The whole process works much better if it is warm and that is the purpose of the yellow cable on the centrifuge.
There is only one rule and that is to never leave the honey house door open!
