A STROLL IN THE PARK

After not a very good night's sleep (it just happens from time to time) and a sluggish morning I decided on some fresh air in Burn Valley Gardens, the linear park just down the road. It had been cooler, breezy and overcast in the morning but as soon as I left the house, wearing an extra layer, the sun came out and it warmed right up again so I was glad I'd chosen somewhere with lots of shade. I walked to the top of the park thinking how few birds were around and was heading home with some photos of cobwebs, fungi and flowers when a flock of long-tailed tits arrived in the tree next to me which seemed to encourage a few other birds to appear (extras). There was a blackbird sunbathing at the foot of the tree, a treecreeper landed on the neighbouring tree trunk and headed upwards, and I took a photo of a little bird rootling around in a distant shrub which turned out to be a blackcap when I uploaded the photos and could see it properly, so I was very pleased I'd made the effort to go out.
